I loved it and laughed out loud for joy when it happened… and I wasn't pulling for either team.
But at 4th and 4… with Williams scambling like that and flinging it from so far behind the line… it was definitely one of the craziest TD passes I've ever seen.
When Chris Collinsworth kept saying that in all of his years of football he'd never seen anything like it, that meant something.
Later, when they showed several different angles of it, it was clear that Kmet had pushed off to get open, but I don't care… Williams still had to get the ball there in the right spot at the right time, so…
      …I'm saying GOAT.

That was no push off. It didn't look like the defender was even trying to move in that direction.

You obviously didn't see anything but the video in this thread.
The push off occurred earlier when the ball was further away.
Try harder next time. I'm sure you can find what you need on YouTube.

This is the only clip I could find:
            https://x.com/SMHighlights1/status/2013079045282439321
It looks like the defender was holding his jersey briefly and they were engaged in standard jostling for position, then they separate and then the defender jumps in the wrong direction well after any contact between the two players.

LMAO… "they separate"? "Jumps in the wrong direction?" Are you trolling or just dumb?
That is the perfect angle to see Kmet shoving him back toward the goal line to get more separation because he could clearly see where the ball was gonna drop in.
We could show that to 50 guys who know football and at least 45 of them would say your opinion is crazy wrong.
No wonder you're on slashdot. You'd be laughed off the board otherwise.
One more thing… go back to the video in the OP and after the catch you can see both of the defenders in the area throwing their hands out toward the officials because they knew it was a push off as well.
Not that it proves anything… they're obviously biased, but it was pretty clear it happened.

You mean what players do on every single play ever regardless of whether an actual foul occurred? There was nothing egregious about Kmet's contact. If anything it was defensive pass interference due to the jersey hold. The former ref they had analyzing calls for the game even said after the play that it was not a push off.

i would agree that we didn't see that massive shove.
the refs basically decide many of the close games with those types of calls and non-calls.

No, slashdot… players DON'T cry foul on "every single play ever" but they do when something like this occurs.
And CH, I obviously didn't say there was a "massive shove." Exaggeration is the way a child tries to support their position.
Lately in college and pro ball, officials have been trending toward a bit more leniency in calling pass interference penalties. so this didn't surprise me… nor did I care if it was called. I said I wasn't pulling for either team.
If you'll look at the second video again, you should be able to tell Kmet extends his arm and it moves the defender back… as Kmet moves away from him.
I don't know if the slight bit of slo-mo accentuates it or not, but it helps Kmet put just enough distance between the defender and where he needs to be to make the catch WHEN the ball gets thete. Also, it clearly puts the defender slightly off balance in the opposite direction.

I wanted the Bears to win.
I don't like the sudden death overtime. It should be a full quarter.
Sudden death makes sense in hockey and soccer. Both teams are in an equal-level playing field to score. Sudden death overtime when one team can only have offensive possession is stupid.

                            No.
It was a fine play but hardly the best.
