Why is she so wrinkled?

I believe you are referring to her role in Benjamin Button? If so, she was playing a 53 year old and it was make-up. If you are referring to her in general, then I believe she has aged slightly, but as a fellow poster suggested, some people age differently and I think its great she doesn't feel she has to have surgery to look younger, obviously she has a life and acting isn't everything to her.

No matter what, as you said everybody ages differently and she is still gorgeous.
To the original poster of this thread, I have to ask what the matter is with you. Have you not seen a 43 year old woman with wrinkles before?
Disease? That's ridiculas. I guess we are so brainwashed by most of Hollywood actresses starting in on plastic surgery by 35 to stay looking very young.
No wonder they feel the need, with people out there who make those hurtful comments. -

I didn't mean anything superficial to start but I was really curious and worried cause the way she looks it is not usual for the women of 43 years old. I can't tell my aunt just hit 40 and looks 30. I have no intention to say she should gor to plastic surgery. Obviously she really looks very wrinkled, check her imdb photos. I remember her from Legends of the Fall, First knight and the change of her face is substantial.

I don't think your question was ridiculous at all. People do age differently. Maybe she is a heavy smoker and that can cause progressive aging. Or it may be genes. My grandmother died at 85 and had very very few wrinkles. I have good genes. But my aunt, my grandmother's daughter and my mom's sister, is very very wrinkled because she was a heavy smoker. So many things can contribute to someone's aging. She also wears very heavy make up now, too, I've noticed. I wish she wouldn't. She is naturally pretty.

Hey Tom,
That was the first thing I thought (heavy smoker) when I saw the close-ups on her face in Benjamin Button. The vertical wrinkle lines above her upper lip were a dead giveaway. Laura Bushthe same. -

According to a person I've talked to, who has worked with her, she has aged like that because of bad habits, if you know what I mean. It is a pity because I would have never thought that about her, and also a pity because she was so beautiful. Of course she still is, and the wrinkles don't make her uglier, but in a few years she will start looking way too old, when she could have taken better care of herself and retain what nature (and a nose surgeon) gave her.

I have not seen her in years and I remember her mainly from Sabrina and First Knight. I have to say that after seeing recent pictures of her, I am shocked at how she has aged.
I mean, her devout fans can get all pissed and offended by people's comments if they want, but these pictures of her really blew me away. She has not aged well at all. -

She does smoke and she doesn't use Botox or get facelifts. More power to her for not conforming like most other Hollywood actresses. I wish more female celebrities would have the courage to stick it to the nip/tuck crowd and be comfortable in their own skin.
And honestly, those pics don't do her justice. Up close her skin looks much smoother, even when she smiles. -

I saw her on CSI.NY last week, and was taken aback at how much older she was looking . I'd wondered for a while about what had ahappened to her, after those high profile movies in mid 90s. I'm 50 and don't look anything like as wrinkled as Julia. I agree - it must be the smoking. Be warned girls - smoking can seriously damage your looks - as well as your health.

I don't understand why people get so offended by these questions.
I really like Julia Ormond but I agree she has aged rather quickly. She was absolutely breathttaking in her ninetees roles (especially First Knight) and now she is a nice looking woman to me, nothing more, nothing less.
She changed a lot in a relatively short time. No big deal, but it is what it is!
