I saw her on CSI.NY last week, and was taken aback at how much older she was looking . I'd wondered for a while about what had ahappened to her, after those high profile movies in mid 90s. I'm 50 and don't look anything like as wrinkled as Julia. I agree - it must be the smoking. Be warned girls - smoking can seriously damage your looks - as well as your health.

I don't understand why people get so offended by these questions.
I really like Julia Ormond but I agree she has aged rather quickly. She was absolutely breathttaking in her ninetees roles (especially First Knight) and now she is a nice looking woman to me, nothing more, nothing less.
She changed a lot in a relatively short time. No big deal, but it is what it is!

First Knight is a movie that was made like 20 years ago. Of course the woman has aged. It's ridiculous to expect people to look the same no matter how old they are.

It's either bad plastic surgery or her face never met a good skin care regimen or a jar of moisturizer; I suspect it's the latter. It's a shame when a woman blessed with natural beauty disrespects that gift. I smoked from age 15-50 before I quit but I used La Mer and only have wrinkles a little around the eyes. I wouldn't say Ormond's face is a great advert against smoking but a good one, yes. Just look at how beautiful Monica Bellucci still is and she smokes. Uses good skin cream too.

Wow, so much ignorance in one post
Creams don't remove wrinkles! If they did, no one would have wrinkles.

Well, c'mon, people! The topicstarter didn't mean to insult anyone!
I agree that she looks old for her age. And I'm not talking about some Hollywood standards, but common women.
And btw I don't think she need surgery or smth. There are too many plastic dolls among actresses. And Julia is still beautiful.

I don't think it is such a ridiculous question. The original topic starter was curious. As am I. She looks completely different. She's prematurely aged. A 43/44 year old should not have such deep lines in their face, especially in the cheeks and around the mouth. It must be smoking.

Some people do, I think its silly to just blame smoking. It could simply be how she is, noting more, nothing less.

She still has an amazing smile and bright beautiful eyes. I think a small face lift would work wonders, actually. Not putting her down or anything. It's just the kind of wrinkles she has would be diminished greatly with one minor face lift.

When I first read the initial question, I thought what a silly and offensive thing to say. I am 36 myself, so I thought, let's click on the picture and see what she looks like. I expected someone looking a lot younger than myself - to be honest. Yes, I agree she looks much older than she should at her age. She still has a very beautiful face but I am surprised by the depth of her wrinkles. I don't like plastic sugery but it is surprising that an actress has the backbone to keep her face natural. Don't know what to say, I like her, she is still beautiful and good that she gets parts without having to ruin her natural face like Meg Ryan did so unsuccessfully.

Does she smoke a lot maybe??

Oh my bad that picture is real.it's strange because if you look at her chest it isn't wrinkled at all. Surely it has to be something other than regular aging. I'm a licensed skin therapist and that isn't the skin of a 43 year old. It look like 60. I'm 31 and usually get taken for younger. Although I stayed out of the sun, have been doing facials since the age of 8, and never did drugs.

I adore Julia and have since I first saw her. She's a talented actress and appeals to me greatly. I admire her humanitarian work as well.
That said, her smoking and whatever else - sun exposure, stress, bad genetics, etc. - has destroyed her skin and she's going to HAVE TO get something done if she doesn't want to be cast as a matronly 60 year old grandmother soon.
I know she wanted to age naturally but that's not an option if she wants to co16d0ntinue her career. It's a shallow, vain world out there and for someone her age, she is simply below the 'standard' of what will be cast.
I hate saying this more than you know. What I'm saying is actually against my own personal values. But my life and career don't depend on my face. Hers does. I want to see her in more roles and they are just not going to be available if things continue as they are.

I agree with the previous poster. Unfortunately most people, including on this thread dont realize that the age can be only a number that doesnt have to reflect the reality. For examle, would you say that Brad Pitt is nearly 50 years old now? in fact he looks like most people look in the early 30s. What im saying that many people develop differently physically as well as mentally.

                                        Actually, yes i would
His age is starting to show (especially around the eyes) but the change is taking place at a normal rate
What makes Ormonds ageing so striking is the fact that it appears to have happened overnight - everyone ages but usually it takess place over decades whereas Julia's face seems to have changed dramatically very quickly - thats why i mentioned keith richards earlier because he's the only other person i can think of who also experienced such a quick change of facial features - to be honest i don't regard it as a question of ageing but rather a question of genetics
the change cannot be called ageing because she isn't actually that old so it's either drug use b68(like richards) or genetics or something else

It's scientifically provable that NO ONE is aging at the same rate!!! Just like no one has the menopause at the very same time/age or puberty starts at every one at the same age. It's provable that molecularly everyone ages differently. One 50 year old man can be physically and mentally 30 year old.
I'm curious to know by which picture you're judging Brad Pitt's age, because recently he's been preparing for his roles where he played older men. Watch him in Burn After Reading, sorry that guy doesn't look to me as a 50 year old man. Or the scenes in Benjamin Button where he is spending time at the sea with Blanchett's character. He may shows signs of stress, but not signs of age, yet.
