That's because it was their role on the team. It's easier for non-athletic people (white people) to stay on the perimeter than drive inside, so that's why they are overrepresented in all-time 3 point stats. Players like Steve Kerr just sat there unguarded while Michael Jordan is covered by 5 defenders, so when he kicks it outside Kerr has an easy shot. However, now that the game has changed in favor of 3 point shooting and it has become the primary form of offense and draws stronger defense, black people have surpassed white players in 3 point efficiency.
