What's with all the hate?

@Mike_Smith76 What did you think of the TV series?
I actually "liked" Genisys okay, but mostly because I expected it to be far worse than it ended up being. I won't re-post my lengthy explanation from another thread, but while I found something enjoyable in all of the movies, even if it was just "cool looking robot fighting action," I thought Salvation was the weakest one, though a close tie with Genisys. The TV series set the bar so high for me, though there's so much more that can be done with the ideas in this franchise that it disappoints me when it ignores them for just plain old cool-looking action.
If you haven't already, do give the TV series a try. It didn't get to continue, so be forewarned that you might not find the ending satisfying, though I personally do think it sorta works in a "you get to imagine what's next" way. It also starts a little weakly, but it seemed to be that every single time it looked like they made a terrible choice, they ended up surprising me and making it work (no big SPOILER here but it does give away a very early character intro, but stuff like John's heretofore unmentioned uncle showing up and being played by that 90210 guy seemed like the dumbest idea, but ended up making for many great moments in the all-too-short series.
It was more "cerebral" than the movies, which I loved due to my fascination with the kinds of ideas that even more "cerebral" shows like Westworld have been addressing, but there's still some cool on-a-budget action scenes and very few "stinker" episodes. It you like Terminator enough to watch the crappiest movies, there's at least a chance you might enjjoy the series so give it a try. Hopefully I haven't built it up too much as it's not perfect and might be exactly the opposite of what some people want from their Terminator stories, but I personally long for one day discovering a parallel dimension that is willing to trade their 20 seasons of Firefly and Terminator: TSCC for our 20-something seasons of American Idol -

I liked the TV series. I think they did a good job fleshing out the characters personalities and giving more insight into what they had to deal with while simply trying to stay alive. The finale was good, but it also annoyed the hell out of me, because I really want to know where they were going to take it going forward. It opened up the idea of a completely new storyline, rather than continuing the same story over and over again.

What's there NOT to hate ?
They spat on the original and turned John Connor into an axxhole: that's not enough ?
Then they gave us a horrible version of both Sarah Connor and Kyle Reese, after having ruined John Connor.
Arnold was OK I guess (well, he was not: he sucked too, hard: I'm just trying to be nice) but even he couldn't save it: bad story, bad characters and no respect for the original will always result in a bad movie. -

I personally don't mind it. It was halfway decent. I look at it as a different timeline/future than what was established in the previous films.
Here's how I view the movies: Terminator-Terminator: Rise of the Machines: the timeline that Reese is originally from, Salvation as basically the same future (with some slight changes to account for the postponement of Judgment Day), and Genisys as a different timeline in which the machines win by making John one of them.
And for anyone who asks, I view the Sarah Connor Chronicles as a different timeline/future that could lead to Genisys since it first introduced Derek Reese and Genisys included him.

Well that's the whole point isn't it ? I didn't want another timeline ! It's like fake-Ghostbusters, it disrespects the source material by cancelling it, that's how I take it.
Anyway what's done is done and I gave it a 2/10 instead of a 1/10 because I like JK Simmons in this: I always liked that guy since OZ and he is the only one who said one line that made me smile. -

I get it, I prefer the original timeline myself, but I've always been a Kyle Reese fan and liked the fact that he was added to the movie. So yeah, I guess I'm a bit biased in that regard.

JK Simmons should not have even been in this movie.
After the terminator is destroyed in the park with the punks, the timeline had changed and nothing was the same. Nothing in the first movie happened in the new timeline. Nothing in the second movie happened in the new timeline. Sarah Connor was never in prison, her son was never born, the silver terminator was never sent to kill her. -

I am sorry to say but that is an absolutely idiotic comment. It is a movie which added yet another twist to the overall story which in itself is hardly surprising given that in this universe time travel exists and if someone can do it once (well in fact twice) then it can be done again and again.
And of course the best movie in the franchise (T2) changed the timeline and so I guess you rate that low too for "disrespect"? I just shake my head at such nonsense.
2/10 is bloody ridiculous. I gave it an 8 but I am going to change that now.

I was just confused by the movie. The time jumps forward are when the movie got so confusing for me; add to that 2 Kyle Reese's and the strange memories the older one has and I just couldnt keep up.

I agree with the OP.
I thoroughly enjoyed it but I did get to experience it in Dolby Atmos (which was awesome).
IMO the movie is way better than Salvation which to mind mind is the dog of the franchise.
I do not get the hate either.
