horrible and inexcusable plot mistakes of reality. how does a seemingly normal kid murder people and really for no reason? so, that takes you completely out of the movie.
also, it's a dumb thing they did by mentioning home alone in this movie because home alone is so much better than this movie and also because they are pointing out a movie this movie ripped off with the paint container swinging scene and also just the idea that that is basically what this movie is: it's a over violent, but without balls home alone.

Fully agree. It's a great Christmas horror to go along with Krampus, Gremlins, and A Christmas Horror Story.
Plus, the twist never gets old. I love showing this to people who've never seen it before.

I thought this was good in the sense that it seemed pretty original and it was able to keep us in suspense…though I did find the film pretty disturbing and kind of bleak, not exactly a recommendable Christmas film…but maybe slightly more so than Eyes Wide Shut at least.

I agree it was quite bleak and disturbing. But that's one of the things I liked about it. That and the kid. He was so good at being a sniveling little tween. I wouldn't recommend it to everybody, but people who are fans of Christmas horror would enjoy it.

I did like it as an interesting little genre piece, or mixed genre maybe…It kind of juggled being unsettlingly dark with moments of complete unseriousness. I think it was well done for what it is.

I don't think it was that bad but it wasn't all that good, either.
The acting was decent. The plot twist worked for a time but then it went way overboard with everything.
Middle of the road horror film for me. -

True, he was "seemingly normal" on the surface but obviously not at all normal. He was a sociopath with twisted obsessions, lack of empathy for others and delusions of grandeur. When his original plan failed, he knocked out the babysitter and hatched an even more diabolical plan that ended in the death of three people including his best friend. There are plenty of people like that kid in the world; people that are willing to commit murder because they can't have what they want e.g., Elliot Rodger.
