Armageddon's original meaning comes from Hebrew, combining "Har Megiddo" (Mountain of Megiddo), referring to the strategic Plain of Megiddo in ancient Israel, and symbolizes the final, climactic battle between God's forces and evil, as described in the Book of Revelation. It signifies the ultimate confrontation between good and evil, leading to God's decisive victory and the end of human misrule, rather than just a literal war in one place. It's symbolic of the progression of the world toward the "great day of God, the Almighty" in which God pours out his just and holy wrath against unrepentant sinners led by Satan, in a literal end-of-the-world final confrontation.
