A weak moment in this otherwise great film. I don’t think ‘turbulence’ was a novel concept in 1990, so it’s weird to have Ryan explain it to the audience, and even weirder that he does this via an air stewardess who would be extremely familiar with the phenomenon.

‘Stewardess’ was still in full use in 1990, hence why it’s used in Die Hard 2 (1990)

Female or male has nothing to do with it.
They have not been referred to as Stewards or Pursers or Stewardesses by the airline industry or by the flying public for a long long time. Their title is Flight Attendant, and it has been since way before 1990. -
