Every single time I watch this amazing film. I still laugh at all the comedy punchlines. The more times I watch this movie throughout my life time the irony of the situation become more obvious. And I understand and empathize/sympathize and relate with each of the characters and the segment of society represented by them.
This time around, I still cry at the same moments. I realised that Brian was a potential school shooter! Btw, the plot doesn't make it clear but when you actively listen to Brian confession during the group therapy session initiated by Allison(the basket-case), you realise that Brian lied to them later on when confronted by Claire about his intentions. He didn't bring the gun to school because he wanted to commit suicide. He brought the gun to kill the teacher that gave him a failing grade in Shop class.
Allison was right about how she could go anywhere and be anything. I really loved how Claire and the jock made Allison realise that before one can appreciate the freedom of having true free will and free choice, you first must connect with the majority and learn to adapt to the hive group first.
So they all healed each other during that day. I think that's a beautiful thing. Don't you? It makes me wanna cry tears of joy. -

Gee, and I thought it was just a funny movie. BTW, I didn't think Brian brought the gun to school to kill a teacher. I think he was thinking about suicide. Besides, it was only a flare gun.
I like the rest of your review though, and it's one of my favorite films.

Oh why on earth would someone kill themselves on school property, yet storing the weapon in their school locker first. He told Claire that he hadn't intented on killing himself. And he was very upset about the failing grade and what his parents would do. The teacher gave him the failing grade. Teachers don't have to grade that harshly especially considering the boy was obviously not the type of academic student who would excel in something like Shop class. Brian was also bullied in school. Someone he knew personally had been bullied by the jock. Brian was bullied by Bender that entire time of the movie and even called "stupid" by Bender.
Use your brain for something other than creating and posting bullshit political satire cartoons. -

I don't get the impression that Brian was going to do anything to the teacher. During his confession, he doesn't blame the teacher. He's frustrated with himself for failing, not angry at the teacher for doing their job.

You werent listening closely. Also a lot is implied probably because of censorship.
He was upset because the teacher failed him and he didnt want a failing grade. And he was bullied!
Suicidal people do not kill themselves in public placesβ¦but a murder suicide happens more often or a mass shooter.
A flare gun can seriously injure or kill someone.

I did listen. He didn't blame the teacher once. He puts it all on himself. And there was no censorship. It's an R-rated movie with lots of swearing and cursing.
Plus, there have been a lot of suicidal people that kill themselves in public. It's not unheard of. Some have even done it live on television.
Yes, a flare gun can seriously injure or kill someone. But Brian was going to use it on himself. There's a deleted scene where Brian outright says he doesn't blame his teacher.
It's at the 9:00 mark.

We will have to disagree and agree that it is all spectulation. One would have to be able to relate to someone like Brian. You probably do not relate to Brian, but I do.
Brian never states that he was going to kill himself. Suicide was a tabu thing back then. I sense that he wanted to kill the tea her because he didnt want a failing grade even though he knew he didnt get the lamp to light up. He expresses that Shop class is a ridiculous class anyway.
Why should your entire grade point suffer due to failing a stupid fcuking class like Shop: which Shop class and Home Economics are basically social constructs. I would want to kill the teacher too

Brian does not state he is going to kill himself, true; however, he doesn't say he wasn't going to either. In fact, he only says he didn't do it, not that he wouldn't do it.
But more importantly, Brian
does
say he would
not
kill his teacher. He does not blame the teacher at all. It's not his teacher's fault.
That leaves only one option: suicide. Killing himself would mean he doesn't have to live with the failing grade. He straight up says so, "I can't have a failing grade." Killing a teacher does nothing for his grade. He's not going to get an A just because the teacher is dead.
Why should your entire grade point suffer due to failing a stupid fcuking class like Shop: which Shop class and Home Economics are basically social constructs.
That sums up just about every other class with the exception of maybe science and math. History, English, Philosophy, Social Studies, etc. All social constructs.
Brian doesn't blame anyone for his failing grade but himself.
