That's one of my favorite episodes. Probably the best one from Season 5.
BTW, Monroe wasn't supposed to be gay, just shy and awkward. However, the actor (Jim J. Bullock) who played him is most certainly a gay man.

Mrs. Rush (the mother) found out that she was adopted in an episode and she went to meet her biological mother who had become a nun. I don't think Jackie or Sara was adopted.

She looks white to me.
I'm surprised to find out she's only 5'3" though. I always thought she was kinda tall and thin. I guess being on film really does add a few inches to people.
She also appeared in (and was excellent in) the cult film The Warriors (1979).

It's a fantasy film about gangs in New York. The gang she hung out with ('The Orphans') was mixed race.
