it would never make me stop liking their work, but if someone is constantly talking politics I will avoid their social media or interviews. that goes for conservatives and liberals I don't want to hear about any of it 🚫

There seems to be some correlation. Brando and De Niro, among my favourites, are both left-wing. I never liked Eastwood or Willis very much (especially the latter), so I don't think there's a political correlation. I liked Kurt Russell, though he turned out to be rightish….

Sometimes. It depends on varying factors and how extreme they are, but it is definitely something that works against the person.
I do still love Ghostbusters even though it's a love letter to capitalism, and I'm guessing at least at the time, Ivan Reitman was right leaning, at least economically

Usually the ones that lean hard into right wing politics do it because they're talentless hacks with a career that's dead or dying. They'll try squeeze a few more dollars and years of relevance from toothless idiots by saying they're being blacklisted. The Clint Eastwoods of the world don't need to do that because they actually have something useful to offer people.
Sean Penn probably has politics closer to mine but I usually try to avoid watching him because he seems like an obnoxious ass clown who hasn't done anything interesting since Ridgemont High even though he keeps winning Oscars for some reason.

Brando and Penn should never be mentioned in the same discussion. Even if both didnt accept an award. One is a genius, that would be Brando.
And the other one Penn is a talentless dullard with a penchant for violence.

I try not to think about their views that much when watching their movies.
I do find it difficult to watch Robert DeNiro in many of his earlier films.
The characters he played were such bad asses.
Now days? We see this frightened old man, ranting and raving in the streets… in interviews… It makes me wonder if he has always been this way…
                                        Who knows?
