Would YOU have gone back for the baby?

Yes, I would go after my own baby. I would even go as far to say I would go back for any child, although in that case, I'd truly have to be in that situation to know.

yes, person asking a question almost 2 years ago - I would.
I would rather die trying to rescue my baby than live the rest of my life knowing I did nothing & was too much of a coward to try & save him. -

Yea I most definatly would go back but sadly real life does not work in the way movies do I would most likely die trying
in real life doug would have been dead the second the giant mutant got his hands on him
its just good ol movie luck that the giant mutant trows him everywhere during that fight and not instantly crack his neck or bury the axe in his head
and more good luck that they didt kill him while he was knocked out
great movie though -

Why is this even a question?
HELL YES, I would have gone back for the baby, especially if she were my own!
It's not like it was some lost cat or something; it was a human baby.

I can see why you wouldn't wanna go for the baby, but personally I think I would. That baby was the only part of his wife he had left, and she probably would have wanted him to save their baby. I think it was worth the risk, it would have been just as risky if they just stayed there or tried to leave.

Leaving your baby behind just to save your own ass is unthinkable. There is something wrong with you and your grandfather, and it's no surprise that this question gets you attacked on the board.
I would wade through a boatload of mutants, zombies, demons, whatever for my kids or grandkids, and I guarantee I'd leave a bloody trail behind me.
Cut your losses Good God.
