In the US, you could start using calculators as early as 8th grade (12-13ish) if you are in a more advanced class. Most begin using calculators in 9-10th grade (13-15).
I cheated on a 4th grade math test because I didn't feel like doing a multiplication problem in my head which was converting 7 miles into yards
