I was wondering if anyone knows why he wasn't in police academy 2&3, I noticed he was replaced by Art Metrano as Leiutanent.

As I recall, Police Academy 2 was essentially about the recruits getting out on the streets for the first time as real cops whereas I suspect Bailey's character was still to be considered an instructor at the academy. Couldn't really imagine a role for him in that film, however as to the third installment where they tried to save the academy from closure you'd think he would've been in that one for certain. In any event he returns as a beat cop in the fourth film which made a particularly bad movie just a little more bearable.

Art Moreno was paralyzed in an accident where he fell off of his roof. He is currently doing a book tour describing his accident and how he overcame it. Personally, Mauser and Harris are equally funny but Harris and Procter together are hilarious.

You mean Art Metrano, not Moreno. He made it into show biz on the Jackie Gleason Show, I believe. He did comic magic while humming his music. It was a gimick that opened the door for him.

It doesn't say. I never thought of it that way.

There has been no reference to Harris and Mauser being relate, but there is to Proctor and Harris. Proctor's sister is married to Harris' nephewit was explained in PA 5 when they were in flight to Florida on their "private" airplane.

Probably with the third film he wasn't available so they didn't have him there. In the fourth film, he is running his own precinct, so we get the impression he left the academy to do that.

He was doing other films at the time. Also, his character wouldn't have fit in the first sequel, since he was back at the academy training recruits while the main characters were in town working on the case. However, he did appear as an extra in the second film at the wedding. He is the man in the scene with the photographer.

Might want to check again While uncredited and only a wedding Guest G.W.Bailey does appear in Police Academy 2, however briefly.
As for Harris vs Mauser I always like Harris way better. Mauser was slime, Harris was just wanted the best cops possible, and didn't want to settle for less than perfection. Harris brought out Hooks voice, inspired Mahoney to be more creative, tried to keep Hightower under control, and even reigned in Tackleberry. Mauser stooped to cheatingband lying, Harris worked hard to make real cops out of his cadets.

Metrano didn't seem like a comedic actor to me. he was very serious and happened to be in a comedy.
Baily, on the other hand, had the comedic timing down, and he was much better for the films. esp being that he had Proctor.
