Most are dead, disfigured or old.

The grand Catskill resort this was based on, Grossingers, was left to rot. Too much to tear it down, nothing to go up in its place, it sits there like a little Ruins of Detroit. Trees growing through the swimming pool, dishes and furniture and beds all still in the buildings moldering away. Look it up! The characters in the movie would be in their 70's now, getting ready for the nursing home down the road.

I drove through the Catskills a few years ago, and saw a few resorts in the same conditionthey almost look like props from a movie where a virus wipes out most of mankind.

I think the OP is talking about the actors in the movie, not the characters. The movie is close to thirty years old so it's not surprising that many have passed on. It seems that many of the male cast have passed away. Kelly Bishop is still quite active and will be in the new Gilmore Girls show.

And immortalised on celluloid for some touching roles in a touching film, which you, presumably, aren't. Are YOU cursed then?

"Most are dead"? Besides Swayze and Jerry Orbach, who's dead?

Max Cantor, who played Robbie. Oh, and the Schumachers, but they were old to begin with!

I think you will find that ALL films are cursed. After a while, every single person who ever appears in a film will be dead!

No curse, people grow old and die over the years. If you were alive and old enough to see this movie when it was out, you are old too. More of the male actors from the film died but it was pretty much age was the reason. Except Patrick Swayze died from a form of cancer and I think the guy who knocked up his partner in the movie died not long after the movie from drug abuse (that's what I've heard).

I'm not usually a fan of romance movies but I love everything about this one.
It has a kind of indescribable magic that gets under your skin.
