The Iceman - Michael Shannon. It's about a real hitman and it's brilliant. Michael Shannon is awesome as usual.
Killer Joe. Matthew McConaughey. He plays a psycho sheriff who does hits as a side line. I love it! -

The Day of the Jackal (1973). At the time, it was considered the most in-depth examination of an assassin ever filmed. It created endless cliches that are replicated today by most hitman movies. It's based on a Frederick Forsyth novel, so you know it's written by a man who knows what he's talking about.
