Yes, all the time. There was one dog in particular that I really liked, and a friend ended up adopting him. I already had a Siberian Husky at the time.

Similar. I was bitten on the butt by a mangy mutt outside of Liquor Mart (RIP) in South Boston when I was around the same age. I felt OK afterwards but I still got a rabies shot "just in case".
