This might not be a popular idea. But I thought about it. Imdb had one. It was an easy way not to forget people and look them( stalk them) to see what they were up to. An easy way to remember people whereas if we dont have one its easy to forget people sn and who they are. With so much memory loss nowadays it would be a good idea.
Follow/ fan is a similar one but its not completely a friend. A follower is someone who adds someone as a friend but the friend didnt friend them. So they would just be a follower. Not a friend. How this appears to the person who has a follower but isnt a friend would be a fan.
Subscribe. No friendship needed. You like the persons posts or want to spy on them. You subscribe. It can tell you what they're up to or what theyve been posting lately. You can also add a special section for the user for them to check what has been posted recently by subscribes.

Imdb had the friend thing. Though you didnt need to accept or add the friend to your list.
