£1,200 was the initial bill when my kitten got sick and then for the following year several more hundreds spent on further vet trips/overnight stays until he finally passed away when he was a year and four months. Poor little thing got such a bad deal, it was honestly a relief to know he was at peace.

Thank you. Yeah, it was a tough year! He very unluckily got something called intussusception where the intestine telescopes into itself. It's only really something that children, kittens or puppies get but without surgery it's pretty much fatal so the vet removed a chunk of intestine but the poor little guy just couldn't get his strength back and couldn't really grow properly. Food went straight through him 🙁 If I had known what was to come and how he would have struggled then I would have preferred he went peacefully rather than go through with this surgery that slowly destroyed him. I think the vet should not have done the surgery but of course at the time I was desperate for him to survive but he should not have been put through all that 💔

Never beat yourself up for not wanting to give up hope…that's the human in you! But I do understand…we had a cat that had cancer and we fought to save her…maybe too much…maybe too hard…but giving up seemed a queer notion as well…a real rock and hard place to be stuck between. The only thing we can cling to is that we tried. Trying and failing is better than giving up I believe

Sorry about your cat. It’s tough when you try so hard but ultimately fail. Yeah with my little guy I felt he deserved the chance at life as he was still just a baby but unfortunately it wasn’t to be 😢

My cat needed to get all her teeth removed. There was another vet closer to my house that would have cost twice as much.

My dog has had nearly all her teeth removed as well and she needs another surgery soon. I wish the vet would just take them all so she doesn’t need anymore surgeries. After the last one she’s been left traumatised 😞

That's the danger of socialized medicine. If you have reasonable health care costs for yourself you might expect the same for your pets, and we all know that's the first step towards communism or something.
