          It sounds interesting, but gathering the acorns, grinding them and then getting the tannins out sounds like a lot of work. This is especially true when you are not sure that you will like them in the end.

            I've tried it and I found it was basically impossible. No matter how long I boiled the acorns the water would still turn dark with tannins. Eventually they just turned into unusable mush.
