I always felt sorry for kids like that, as well as disgusted by them.

Well partially. And yes I was sad not to be able to join the other trick or treaters.
But alas. Halloween is overrated. Yeah you get free candy from strangers and you get to play dress up. But honestly if someone had just given me a large bag of candy for free without me having to work for it would be just as sweet.

Thankfully, no, but there were people in my family like that. Some relatives on my paternal grandmother's side were weird and religious. I think some of them converted from Catholicism to one of those weird nondenominational churches that are basically Baptist. They were really against Santa Claus. I remember because they were snobbily saying he doesn't exist, and I think there was some tension with them telling us that. I always hated those cousins lol. Not just because of that, but they were so prissy.
Also, my oldest half sister similarly came from a Catholic background, but went all Protestant. Even went to a megachurch at one point. They've mellowed a little with age, but I remember my sister judging my mom for letting me color my hair weird colors around 12 and 13. Her kids in the early 00's weren't allowed to watch Harry Potter or even Hocus Pocus. She did eventually let us take them trick or treating in my later teens and 20's, and they've mellowed out a lot. Still religious and kind of annoying, but tolerable.

I would guess many people here were like that. It's probably why they are so ****ed up.

Not many people celebrate it over here or have events so it kinda sucks, but we make the most of it. Some years we go to parties and some years we stay at home. But every year we carve a pumpkin on halloween 🗡 and light 🕯 them as soon as it becomes dark and put them on either the kitchen windowsill or the doorstep 🎃🧙🏻‍♀️

Kids don't dress up and go out for candy in England on Halloween?

Yes but it's not like America and I feel like kids do it even less these days 😔

America must be so scary. I saw one mom going thru all the candy with a magnet. 🤣
