Rap is dead. Culture is healing.

For the first time in more than 35 years, no rap songs appear in the Billboard Hot 100's top 40.
The streak came to an end on the chart dated Oct. 25, 2025, following the fall of Kendrick Lamar and SZA's 13-week No. 1 hit, "Luther." The highest-charting rap song is now YoungBoy Never Broke Again's "Shot Callin" at No. 44, just outside the top 40. Other rap tracks, including Cardi B's "Safe" featuring Kehlani and BigXthaPlug's "Hell at Night" featuring Ella Langley, are also in the 40s at No. 48 and 49.
The last time the Hot 100 had zero rap songs in the top 40 was Feb. 2, 1990, when Biz Markie's Just a Friend had just reached No. 41. That single would jump to No. 29 the following week, sparking a 35-year, eight-month, and three-week streak of rap songs consistently appearing in the top 40. -

you mean it's more garbage and forced underground because ZOOMER rappers have no talent and just abuse autotune
if something like College Dropout came out today it would have multiple top 40 tracks easily
but also zoomers just have **** taste in music

the greatest rappers working today are Kendrick Lamarr, Doechii, Danny Brown, JPEGMAFIA, billy woods, Denzel Curry, Rapsody, GloRilla, Larry June, Lupe Fiasco, Tyler the Creator, Earl Sweatshirt, Pink Siifu, Yugen Blakrock, Westside Gunn, Conway the Machine, Benny the Butcher, Rome Streetz, Quelle Chris, Clipse etc etc etc. none of them use autotune, dum dum
i bet you know nothing about any of them which tells you everything you need to know about the current state of rap.
it's not for philistines. it's for people with taste.

also you listed off a bunch of extremely successful lab rappers after claiming that rap was forced underground
clipse is a millennial group too and so is lupe. you can't put those names next to
retards
like glorilla and then pretend your list means anything.

yes i can. watch me.
also don't be a retard. i did not say rap was "forced" underground. i said rap
went
underground. going underground is a decision.
both Clipse and Lupe have put out extremely successful records recently, so they do count. i don't care about your generation pigeonholing.

but my point was that zoomer rappers suck and zoomers have **** taste
which still stands
case in point: the biggest millennial artists include andre 3000, kanye west, pre-encore eminem
the biggest zoomers artists are kendrick lame-ar, slut rappers like card b and glorilla, and autotune abusers like lil baby

anyways, apparently, no one here knows anything about the current state of rap, except ME. i listen to recent hip hop every single day for hours. do you?
Cardi B and Lil Baby are dogshit, agreed. but that's only 2 vs thousands of great hip hop artists ALL AROUND THE WORLD.

no. only if it's good… but finding good recent hip hop is like trying to draw blood from a stone
I reviewed ja rule's and eminem's entire discography a few days ago (those was painful. post TES eminem is like listening to chalkboard scratching). I just got done listening to jay-z's entire discography and now I'm starting on other artists.

yes they are and have awful discographies, but they were and still are culturally relevant so I wanted to make a point to listen to their work
also I learned that jay-z is a big cry baby pussy and also he cheated on beyonce so I don't have as much respect for him as I did before I listened to all his albums
