U.S. Capitol Police were called about an American flag altered to include a swastika and displayed inside the office of Rep. Dave Taylor (R-Ohio), his spokesperson said.
POLITICO obtained an image taken during a virtual meeting that shows the flag pinned to what appears to be a cubicle wall behind Angelo Elia, one of Taylor’s staffers. Alongside the flag — with altered red and white lines in the shape of a swastika — are pinned images, including a pocket Constitution and a congressional calendar. It is unclear what role, if any, Elia had in the incident. He did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
“I am aware of an image that appears to depict a vile and deeply inappropriate symbol near an employee in my office,” Taylor said in a statement. “The content of that image does not reflect the values or standards of this office, my staff, or myself, and I condemn it in the strongest terms.”
Taylor said he “immediately” directed a thorough investigation alongside the Capitol Police, adding, “No further comment will be provided until it has been completed.”
The flag was found inside Taylor’s office in the Cannon Building in Washington, D.C., Tuesday afternoon, according to an office spokesperson. Taylor believes it is the result of “foul play or vandalism,” the spokesperson said.
The revelation comes a day after POLITICO reported on an explosive Telegram group chat in which Young Republican group leaders traded racial epithets, joked about the Holocaust and praised Adolf Hitler.
Elia has worked as a legislative correspondent in Taylor’s office since January, according to his LinkedIn.
When reached for comment, a U.S. Capitol Police spokesperson sent an automatic reply saying the office is closed due to the shutdown and “will re-open when the federal government is funded.”

The dumbass Congressman, rather than own up to his poor hiring decisions and the fact that he's likely been walking by the flag since January and noticed it numerous times, is alleging that somebody broke into a Congressional office and planted it there, apparently just so it could be spotted on a livestream at some point
Hopefully he is charged with filing a false report.

Your concern is understandable.
If this had happened here (DE), the police would've arrived much faster!
But I believe Dave Taylor.
This dubious flag obviously belongs to one of Taylor's employees who works for him since January.
Taylor clearly distanced himself from it, which he wouldn't need to do in the USA if the swastika truly
represented his opinion.
