Of course he was allowed to. He said what he wanted to, didn't he?
He didn't lose his free speech rights. He wasn't dragged off the stage and thrown in jail. He made his statement which was a blatant lie. Here's the most objectionable part:

He added: "This is not how an adult grieves the murder of someone he calls a friend. This is how a 4-year-old mourns a goldfish."
But ABC-Disney got tons of phone calls from people saying Kimmel was lying and it was gonna cause lots of people to stop watching and they'd lose advertising revenue. So they dumped the lying liar who lies and the show is now cancelled.
So… free speech, yes… but consequences for lying and trying to score political points alongside a tragedy, also yes.

BTW, Kimmel wasn't "discussing Charlie Kirk's assassination," he was taking a cheap shot at those who loved him and were in mourning.

He didn't lie about anything. It was a "ton of phone calls" that got Kimmel pulled. It was the FCC threatening to revoke ABC's broadcasting license because he made Trump mad when he showed the footage of Trump not giving a single **** about Charlie Kirk dying.

Nothing Kimmel said there was a lie. The right wing has spent the entire last week trying to say it wasn't them. That's a fact. You were one of them doing this. You guys have also tried to score political points with it. Also a fact.
And talking about a ballroom you are building when asked about your supposed friend getting murdered is not how someone cares about the deceased behaves. Also a fact.
Nothing Kimmel said was a lie. Trump had the FCC threaten ABC because he knew how bad that clip Kimmel showed made him look, abd that's why Kimmel got taken off the air.

Kimmel wasn't claiming the shooter was MAGA. He said the right is trying to paint him as not MAGA, which is exactly what they have been doing. Both sides have been pointing fingers despite us still not knowing if the shooter had any strong political ideology at all. So are the right wing tv hosts have been claiming the shooter is a leftist when it has not been proven going to be taken off the air too? Personally I hope not, because I don't support cancel culture like you right wingers do.

Yes he was… it was indirect, but unmistakable.
Two days ago Trump threatened an ABC reporter to his face that he was going to go after their network. The next day the FCC threatened to have ABC's broadcasting license revoked. It's a pretty simple connection to make.
