    F*ck the Amish
They should be prosecuted for abuse. What's to keep them from doing it again?

There are two sanctuaries that I'm aware of (on YouTube) that exclusively rescue horses that the Amish have used and abused and then sell off at kill pens for meat. They are usually big draft horses that they use to plow the fields and pull the buggies. The horses are always worked to the bone. Horses live to be about 25-30 years old, and they get run into the ground.
There's another one (from another farm/sanctuary) that they rescued that was skin and bones despite being a large sized horse. I've been watching his rehab and recovery as he gains weight. They let him choose when to interact and be groomed by placing the brushes out for him to sniff, and they'd brush him only while he was comfortable, and stopped. Slowly, he increased his trust so they could brush him and wash him. He looks like such a different horse in the hands of love and good care! Everything is done gently and on their terms as they trust.

          Touching.
Horses get slaughtered across the world.
Is this your personal campaign against the Amish people?

I've only just seen this thread and I almost wish I'd missed it completely. Poor horses. 😞

I felt the same way watching these, but she has made it her mission to rescue these horses and she invests whatever it takes to rehab them and get them healthy again. I cried watching the beginning journeys of some of her horses and didn't think I could take it, but thankfully, watching the horses progress as well as they do, in the grand scheme, they're finding love and trust and being given a forever home. Some of the horses even find a new best friend/partner. I try to keep the big picture of what she's doing in the forefront.
I can't believe people could be so cruel to such innocence.

Yes, they're having a few very happy years (hopefully) with that wonderful woman, but I keep thinking of all those years of misery that came before.

All around the world right now that's what is happening even when it's not publicised. I wonder why there is such a streak of cruelty in human beings.
