The purported evidence for them having already visited is not compelling.

The material world is unlikely to be what we think it is. We have hit pause on our own scientific ambition to uncover more about it, but it still remains immensely mysterious with even the basics not fully understood. Nothing we claim to even partially understand today, be it the theory of relativity, gravitational theory, quantum theory, or any other "law of physics", has been fully explored. A sensible physicist will admit this. Therefore, it's ignorant to claim anything is impossible, or even implausible.
It's wise to remain agnostic on matters that have no compelling evidence either way. That said, there are aliens here on earth today. Mushrooms.
Sent by a civilization beyond the reach of our telescopic gaze, the humble mushroom is in fact a probe, sent out into the universe to search for other life forms. Billions of mycelium spores were jettisoned into the cosmos, protected from the violence of space by their metallic outer layer and electron dense core, on an exploratory quest. Many brave mushrooms have been lost on planets without an organic host, but those lucky few fortunate enough to find a home are quietly going about their business. Some even help shape our world through their mind altering influence. It's no coincidence that many great human minds have had their greatest thoughts while floating on a magic mushroom high. -

The mushroom has no appetite, sir, only an instinct. The species that exploited their qualities is the one with the desire. For what, I couldn't say.
They sent three distinct class of probe. The humble, edible variety, and the much feared but equally valuable poisonous class. These are here to ensure the host planet doesn't reject them outright. They are demonstrably useful and worth embracing for their gastronomic and militaristic benefits. However, they exist only to divert attention from the mind-controlling class. Occasionally, when required, the "magic" class of mushroom course corrects our species through a dose of psilocybin, which has encouraged profound visions within the genius class that have provided an inspirational leap "forward" in the development of mankind. -

They can survive outer space. They're a very impressive organism.
Next time you're in the supermarket, take a moment to pay your respects to the brave, sacrificial mushrooms crowded together on the shelf. They die so that the mind-controllers get to thrive. -

I suggest you watch the original French Film Martyrs. It deals more with the afterlife than Extraterrestrials. But watch it and then do exactly as they do in the film.

Do you know of " The Why Files " on Youtbe. He covers all things alien/cryptid/shady government stuff. Pretty good channel if you are into that type of thing.
The fish is a bit annoying sometimes but you just gotta roll with it. -
