labels are rarely as important as the real people that are stuffed into those ill-fitting ledgers so they can fit into some convenient and profitable model.
but whatever helps the baby-brains make sense of the world and keeps the beast in control, amirite?

Someone is always going to be in charge. Unless you plan on overthrowing the government you'll always be better off picking the option that's at least at little bit closer to what you want. Ranked choice voting might make alternative candidates more viable but that's not the system we have right now. You can't even get to that point unless you vote for people who are open to it.

we have a bit of a disconnect since i don't believe the person we would be voting for from any major party would actually be in charge of anything.
i do understand voting for who might be the most in charge in a manner of speaking. it's just that at the level of the U.S. federal government with all the power and resources and given how far from the people and reality they are, i believe what we have is a natural outcome, so i would rather not sign up to play that game. i lke to lead quietly and by example. helping to build environments for success rather than trying to affect outcomes directly.
I'll just do my own thing and prepare for whatever, come what may. I'm not going to try to use the system to fix the system because i think the system is working as designed. only it's now with Godless humans at the helm.
i can usually get behind voting locally, but again, the people who generally run that are from any major party are there because of who they are loyal to and lately, that hasn't been to my people or my community. -

But if a Democrat is offering me a higher minimum wage and a Republican is offering to kick me in the balls then the logical choice is to do nothing and let myself get kicked in the balls because neither one is going to give 100% of what I want.
