they do respond to their environment in interesting ways. for example, they can sense things like gravity and light, and they communicate with each other through their root systems and fungi. so, while they might not be annoyed by us leaning on them or carving initials, they definitely have their own way of interacting with the world.

No. I got a jetwash now. I've been waiting for it warm up before blasting the facias, fencing, etc.. I'm undecided whether to blast the tree stump just for the lols

yep lol it's kinda fascinating how they communicate with each other.
they talk to each other when there's danger, like a fire or sth. not that they can do anything about it really.
