Been a while since I was last in but I'm sure it was under a fiver Bobby
I took a date there once and we both got fed for a fiver, so it would have been as low as £2.50 at that point
We only went there because we'd each seen the sign from the buses that used to pass there and figured it would be nice to check out some day. That day turned into a date

That’s a lovely story and one which extolions the importance of GOOD VALUE to boot!! Gary would be proud of you. 😊
Speaking of Glasgow, I came across some Glaswegian humour earlier on which amused me…

Well that pub that they run out of at the end isn't there any more Bobby
But there's someone else here from Glasgow (Or at least has a connection to the place) who might have visited the first Boys Brigade hall just across from that pub
The funniest part of that video for me what the gravestone proper that they must have taken with them to put in the park that overlooks the Kelvinhall from the university hill that they were sitting on that bench in the park part of the video. Only there for a few seconds and there's a perfectly fine Necropolis they could have used instead
That and two guys having brollies!

It certainly all escalated fast didn’t it! He told them that story, but the ginger one thought very long and hard over it. I actually found it far more captivating than most films that I see in that multiplex. 🙂

I think the underlying principles of scepticism, ignorance and happiness, trust and personal expression are explored in a light-hearted but serious manner within the piece Bobby
I'm not sure what I took away from it but perhaps that's the point

It may be a comedy sketch, but it also contains some real food for thought. IS IT right to provide people false hope. Are they really better off being realistic in their hopes and dreams. Would false hope be beneficial or detrimental to them long term. 🙂

To understand why he felt compelled to give false hope is a better question to explore Bobby
But yes, why Marti Pellow and not Darius Danesh?

Well we saw Limmy sat by that grave during the second scene…so I think it’s hinted at that whoever died did not follow their dreams and died unhappy. Perhaps he felt that at least with that all important ‘hope’, we at least stand more of a chance…or it at least pushes us along to be happier. It’s all very deep and it’s what separates it from say that sketch in Little Britain where that woman tasting the WI members foods throws up afterwards. 🙂
As for why Marti Pellow…Limmy explains it here.

                      Hmm…
For Marti Pellow to have sang at a karaoke pub in 1981 means that he's have been 17 years old (Marti that is). For this woman who went to college with Lemmy to have seen him there would mean she'd had to have been around the same age (At least). Lemu is 9 years younger than Marti Pellow which, while not that much in adult years, is a million miles away from being able to relate to him, or anyone his age, when Lemon was at college. He'd at least have mentioned she was a mature student (To him) or something
And that's to say nothing of there being karaoke in Clydebank in 1981
I'm thinking Lemme is more of a Bearden boy pretending to know what Clydebank was because he did his HND there. There might have been the odd neon light in a bar in Clydebank in the early 80's, but it wouldn't have lasted long and there's no way karaoke would have got past the first song

Well Lemon says in the video doesn’t he that he doesn’t remember now if she was actually there or someone who she knew was. He’s unclear on that detail. Even if it was her, I can recall more family type restauranty pubs or pubby restaurants being more popular back in the old days and they had karaoke sometimes. I should know because I can remember being at one and singing the Wet Wet Wet version of A Little Help From My Friends on karaoke…so how is that for bringing this story full circle? I doubt that is coincidence. 😊
Anyway I don’t know why I’m trying to justify this…it’s LEMON’s story not mine! You heard it direct from the horses mouth…so it is not me that you need to be taking this up with, it’s HIM!!!

He’s probably got the area mixed up. It’s been over 30 years for him and the gist of what he said was ‘Clydebank or somewhere’. Why don’t you and I just keep traveling back to 1981 and visit each pub type place in Glasgow that has karaoke on during that fateful evening and look for a young Marti Pellow? If nothing else it will be fun to have a copy of us in so many pubs at one time AND it could make quite a fun pub crawl too if we have a beer in each one. 🙂

                              That sounds like fun Bobby!
Well the only places with karaoke then would be in either Glasgow or Edinburgh and people tended to stick to their own areas and so that whittles it down to Glasgow.
Still be hard to find a place in Glasgow, in 1981, with a karaoke though.
I think I've got around 13 spots which could be a two day bar crawl bender
We'll need to swap monies though. Fifty pence's were bigger back then and nobody had even heard of a pound coin

Yes we’ll need to bring appropriate money and some era appropriate clothing. Don’t bring any modern tech other than your mobile (which will need to be used to activate the time Vectrex), but keep that hidden!!
Finding the right evening should be easy, we’ll just focus the Nurungator on fixed points in time, which this evening will of course be because it is where Marti first showed the world his beautiful voice and made them take notice! 🙂

Well it's likely that we'll have to be hanging around the shirt lifter end of town Bobby, so clothing for the time shouldn't really be a concern, in fact we might even pick up a few beaus without trying too hard
But we really should research this Maria more. She'd help to pin-point the exact place as there are more than a few shirt lifter places in Glasgow (Not dissimilar to Manchester in that regard) and so we're looking for one that lets underaged girls AND boys in
                                  Wait a minute…

Can we play this the first time we travel back?

It's a bit Chaz and Dave Bobby but sure, I'm sure some people will have a laugh with that

That song is just for us as we travel back. It’s for our own enjoyment only. 🙂
I’m going to be drinking a mix of Tennants, Newkie Brown and Babycham. When in Rome… 😊

Don't forget that it will likely be the proper dimpled beer tankards that we'll be bibbing from Bobby
But yes, that song just prior to setting off sounds grand
