Krispy Kreme is soooooooo sweeeeeeEEEEEEEEEt. I remember the first time I tasted one when someone brought in a dozen for our department. I bit into one, and had to spit it out. My mouth and taste buds rebelled.

But they're so melt in your mouth when fresh.
I don't even usually like donuts… or cake. But those fresh ones…

Really? They stay pretty fresh in my experience, but the ones when the light is on are way better.

I was kidding. But they have so much air in them. I like those old fashioned fried cake donuts - plain. So good.

That's why I probably like them and don't mind the sweeetness. The lightness just makes them so easy to eat.
I hate most cake or cake donuts. Hard finding ones that are moist enough.

There used to be a place nearby that made the old fashioned donuts. They were around since before I was born. I’d get two plain ones, still warm. They cooked them in lard. Nice crispy outside, and moist and tender inside. The bag they put them in would have grease stains from the donuts. Not healthy, but they were delicious.
