…for Pete Hegseth.

Some were soooo emotional! Made me realize how insane a day in the senate must be. No wonder nothing gets done.

I liked where it was pointed out that there none of them were perfect with spotless records.
Oh! I didn't notice the signs.
I started watching it live on Fox while Pocahontas was steam rolling him with her "questions ".
I am impressed. He handled himself well.
You asked a pretty question; I've given you the ugly answer.

Absolutely! Talk about histrionics. The blathering was giving me secondhand embarrassment.
I forgot who pointed that out, about how no one there was perfect. So many stones were cast without any regard. Lots of tilting at windmills took place in 5 hours.
What was frightening was seeing certain senators with obvious agendas went into this in bad faith. Wanting to release people from hypothetical NDAs and casting aspersions where there was already resolution was pathetic.
There was an obvious push with regards to women in combat roles that I can't believe anyone defending that position has ever served or is thinking this through on anything other than idealistic platitudes. Hegseth always said he was specifically about
combat
roles that require maintaining the same fitness standards from both men and women in the military. They were so laser-focused on inclusion and representation that they're not being realistic. A soldier has to be able to not only carry around over 100lbs of gear but also be responsible for the actual lives of their fellow soldiers, and they were more worried about getting women out on the field without any consideration for the burden they would be. It's absolutely crazy. I'm just glad there were level heads who were able to redirect the questions to areas that were actually applicable in this job description.
Bonkers.

It really was embarrassing! These people are supposed to be our senators. I have to wonder if this is the way they act all the time.
I've never been too keen on women in combat for a number of obvious reasons, and for several personal reasons, having served from 1975 thru 78.
After today, I don't believe women should be in the senate!
I look forward to some normalcy and good old common sense in the coming years.

True, I see logic in that "worse is better" scenario but I don't want a warmongering maniac like Hegseth in charge of the Pentagon for even a second. So much for "Trump the non-interventionist". lol …Trump only picked this asshole because he liked something Hegseth said on his "Fox & Friends" propaganda show and he probably likes his looks too. Hegseth is a total neocon and his comments about Gaza are nothing short of repulsive.
Oh, and he's a rapist too. (Bonus MAGA point, I guess.)
Trump sure can pick 'em.
