We just took down ours this morning.
We have packed it all away for next year.
This always makes me feel sad, and yet, it's always nice to clean and start fresh for the new year…
May you all HAVE A HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

I try to hang in there until then, but after a few days…
I'm ready to start fresh and clean.

I used to. It was ideal as a kid because it was rural, but not so rural you were far away from kids your own age. It was kinda like in Stranger Things or a Stephen King story like IT where we rode our bikes everywhere, explored the woods, and stuff.
Kind of a mix of rural and suburban. -

Yeah, but did you have woods to explore? Animals around? Lots of space to play outside?
We had a bunch of subdivisions in bike riding distance where some of the friend group lived. I can show you a map lol. -

Sounds like where I grew up.
I loved living there as a kid, but hated living there as a teen. It seemed uncool to live in what I saw as a hick part of town, and hated that my parents moved there from New Orleans. I wanted to be in the city.
I still like more urban living, but I see the pros and cons of every type of living. I like that I'm not in a big city, but in the main part of town. Close to everything. Not far from both of the main cities. Walkable for the most part. -

I do the British traditional thing and leave everything up until the 12th night after Christmas. However, you know my little secret about leaving up some lights up all year to cheer me up on a grey day. I hope we all have a happy and healthy 2025!

I didn't put up a tree this year, but if I did, it would remain up halfway through January, I'm sure. Mayhap a bit longer even.
Like NZer, I keep some of the twinkly lights up, especially the tiny white ones in the bedroom. Very atmospheric.
