I didn't click the link, but does it say who is paying the rent for them? Is it the State of Maine (i.e. taxpayer money), or is it some other shadowy government (or private enterprise) entity behind it?

There's a Maine state fund used for all sorts of assistance. Some of it goes to subsidized rent, some of it subsidizes construction, some of it is for homeless people, and yes some goes to migrants.
It wasn't meant to be asylum specific but for whatever reason original developer sold it to another one who decided to rent the units to asylum seekers.
Asylum seekers aren't legally allowed to work while the paperwork is pending, and that usually takes at least 6 months. Once they're able to work they pay 30% of their income in rent.
After two years of subsidized rates it becomes market rate housing and they'll have to either come up with the full rent on their own or find somewhere else to live.
You can read actual local Maine news sources about it with an explanation. Never blindly believe any thing shared from a social media video. They target you with rage bait to keep you watching and pump up their ad revenue/sell more of your personal data.

They do not have two years of free housing complete with free utilities and furnishings. We have a limited number of housing programs, but nothing to this level. Anywhere. Except for illegals. Sorry, but "regular" people are **** out of luck.

Did you even read my explanation? It's not two years of free housing. Anyone can say anything in a video. Always assume they're lying unless you can find confirmation from a not explicitly political news organization. 99% of the time there's major pieces of information missing on these videos. They'll take one small piece of a story and build and dream up an entire cinematic universe with it.
The only reason they have it for free for any amount of time is because asylum seekers following the legal process, who aren't illegal immigrants, aren't legally allowed to have jobs until their application is finalized.
Because of the understaffed immigration courts that can easily take 6 months or more. And it's not two years of free rent. It's free rent until they get a green card and then rent is 30% of their income for whatever is left in the two year window.
After that it becomes mostly market rate housing. Also a lot of the furnishings were paid for by private donations.

Yes, I read what you wrote.
I'm watching actual interviews with the people who are living in these furnished apartments stating they are paying zero and are guaranteed this "free rent" for two years. I think I will trust the actual people who live there not paying rent.
You and I also have different definitions of "asylum seekers".

The only definition that matters is the state department's
                        https://www.uscis.gov/humanitarian/refugees-and-asylum/asylum
                        And it's free rent for
                        up to
two years. I guess if they don't work at all then 30% of $0 would count as free rent but that makes paying for things like food and clothes a lot harder.
Also man on the street interviews have their uses but aren't the greatest source of information either. Especially in this case when they are likely to be people who are very likely to have limited educations and understanding of the language.

A couple of interesting points. "Man on the street" interviews have both good and bad points. They can have an agenda and single out those replies that just so happen to agree with whatever narrative they want to push, so that's always a possibility. On the other hand, by being independent, they also have the freedom of not being tethered or obligated to report one particular slant to their overlords who are also pushing their narrative and agenda.
It can really be a mixed bag, but I think that there's a lot of government corruption, and we've seen a lot of it play out just over this past election cycle. Things like that are why I do not necessarily agree with the propaganda that's being pushed to try and justify or offer half-assed explanations as to what they're trying to do (when in fact, that is nothing more than an idealized version to try and mask their actions). It ends up coming out when independent reviews are done.
