No, it was my prayers to God that did it. Before my prayers, Space Gandalf was going to end humanity with this plague, but I talked him out of it. I was all like "Please, don't wipe out humanity, God. Come on!"
And God was all like "Well, okay. Since you asked nicely." -

I never got to work from home before COVID. Now I can. Seems worth it to me. Although I am kind of conflicted about it because if we just let nature take its course then there would probably be a few million less Trump supporters out there and our collective IQ would have gone up a few points.

As someone who works in healthcare I feel that all those precautions did help stop the spread of the disease, especially masks. We have no idea how many more people would have been affected but I happened to be a frontline worker during the pandemic. At one point I was being exposed to Covid patients on a daily basis, but with all the precautions I remained virus free. Then when the mask mandate was no longer in effect and people stopped wearing masks I got infected from a single public event. By that point I’d had the vaccine plus the boosters so it wasn’t that bad. But I do think the precautions and vaccine made a big difference.

Thank you for that insight and all you did with the risks.
I am glad for you that you did not die from it.
Yeah, my GF got it a second time in a place where she and the person she thinks she got it from, was not wearing a mask.
I like to think the precautions we took did protect ourselves and brought the numbers down.
I believe the numbers would have been way higher if we did nothing about it.
Like look at those Trumpers and anyone else that was in denial and carried on as if it was not around.
They got it and died.

No, not worth it.
what do you think it was that ended it from the China Virus?
Herd immunity, but mainly the courts finally telling tyrants that enough was enough, once they started blocking the illegal activities our government had been engaging in the media and Democrats stood down and stopped pushing mass hysteria.

Herd immunity
I want to understand what that means.
Is that where it took out the weak and old and left those who might get it but won't die still alive?
mainly the courts finally telling tyrants that enough was enough, once they started blocking the illegal activities our government had been engaging in the media and Democrats stood down and stopped pushing mass hysteria.
Do you have an example of this?
Because I am not aware with this concept.

We get along and disagree on some things respectfully.
Though yeah.
I have not heard of what he is bringing up and disagree with it.
He is a Trumper so of course he might think there is a, "Deep State," whatever that is.

He is a Trumper
Not really. I just think it's fair to call balls and strikes, there's plenty to criticize Trump on, but you choose to push a bunch of fake leftist narratives about him and I simply correct it.
so of course he might think there is a, "Deep State," whatever that is.
I didn't suggest anything about a deep state, just that state and federal governments were enacting unconstitutional rules during Covid and in many places refused to lighten up on them until the courts made them. Afterwards the hysteria started to die down.

In retrospect it looks like much of the steps taken to combat covid were unnecessary and harmful. Suicides went up due to social isolation, car accidents went up due to people getting rusty at driving, millions of jobs were lost, many businesses went under, many elderly people were left to die in nursing homes particularly at the start of the pandemic, children have fallen behind in school, the economy crashed worldwide, inflation went out of control. All of this over what turned out to be a virus that wasn't as deadly as feared. Most young and healthy people were not at risk of dying and we could have kept the economy and society going. Sweden did and they ended up having less deaths per capita than the United States.

There is no denying it is a highly contagious and deadly sickness.
Perhaps we could have followed Sweden's model for whatever it was they did to control it, which you failed to mention, or is there a balance in there of somehow keeping things open and running while keeping the infected down.
I dunno.
Is there?
What we had was an arrogant, inexperienced moron for a first time politician for president who had no clue on how to handle it and he let it get out of control and as bad as it got with his cult of deniers.
Perhaps we would have done better with Hillary in that crises.
