She isn't Black or Norwegian, so why would she? I mean, she does have Indian heritage so her hair could probably handle the intensity of braiding. White peoples' hair cannot stand the process of crocheting, braiding or dreds without causing severe breakage. (Unless they're doing it for a single event).

No. As far as I understood her heritage, she's half white and half Indian. I only started hearing her use the Black race card when she started campaigning.
I'll admit that I didn't look into her ethnicity because that doesn't really matter to me as much as how I cannot abide by anyone of any colour, race or ethnicity, utilizing it (and changing it along the way depending on the circumstances) to take advantage of the circumstances and piggyback on identity politics.
I have seen her being interviewed and
in her own words
, she claimed she was Indian. At the time, she seemed rather proud of that.
What I find interesting is that when someone is "half white," it's become fashionable to dissociate yourself from any all whiteness and disavow it as if it's some sort of unfortunate curse. Being honest, I really don't understand it.
I've just viewed her as
biracial
. But no, I do not view her as Black because she is not.

I admitted that I was not 100% familiar with her heritage, but as I said, she's on the record claiming that she is Indian, and I've never heard her utter a word of being Black
until
she started this campaign. When things like this happen, it makes me feel like they're using their identity and changing it along the way to suit their narrative at any given point in time and at whatever group they're trying to appeal to.
I've been paying more attention to the things that she's been saying (just one of those things had to do with her stating she was Indian). In fact, she refused to identify as Black in an interview with CNN.
I personally don't
care
what her racial makeup is, and frankly, I wish no one else did either. In a perfect world, we wouldn't even see the candidates, but we would be compelled to vote entirely based on their policies only, and not on their gender or colour of their skin. These things should not play a part in who we vote for.

narrator
who claims that Harris identifies as both Indian and Black.
I really just wish this entire "identity politics" stuff would stop. We have women voting for her
just
because she's a woman. That is
not
the right reason to vote someone into office. The same thing happened with Hillary.

She talked about being black in 2020 when she tried running for president. She was black when she ran for attorney general and Senate in CA. I didn't even know she was part Indian until she got picked for VP.

I agree and I also live in California. I had never known of her Indian ancestry until recently. Previously I had only known her to be black from her role as attorney general. And as someone who lives in the state she’s from I can say that her Indian heritage never played a part in advertising or media coverage.

Why would she claim to be white? I don't even like Kamala but her parents aren't white. Her dad obviously has European heritage because he's a lighter skinned black man but that does not make him "white".
