A cool song and not bad for a one hit wonder!
And not bad for him either since he got rich off of it.
Not like millions but like a comfortable six figures.
Which would not be a bad way to do it.
Create a catchy song and revel in the royalties when it gets used in a movie here and there through the decades.

Especially if he was good at money management and wasn't one of those musicians who let the money and fame of the music hit go to his head and blow it all. If one's willing to live relatively modestly, that can be a comfortable living.

Yeah, I read an interview where he was talking about that.
Wish I could find it again.
In the meantime this is a good read on the song and his life.

Discovered this song in the 1990 Alec Baldwin/Jennifer Jason Leigh movie Miami Blues. Love watching covers of the classic riffs like Spirit In The Sky. I wish I could find one that includes the 2nd guitar.

I remember it when it first came out. It got a lot of airplay up here on local pop/rock radio. To me it was one of the original and one of the best power rock songs ever.
BTW, NG's
California Earthquake
is great too, and is another personal favorite of mine:
*Love the visuals in that video ^^, lol
