Why do old people always do this?

On Facebook or Instagram or in real life any time one of their friends or relatives posts a picture of their teen or pre teen daughter even if she's extremely average looking or even ugly they say things like "oh she's a beauty! Watch out dad! Better get your shotgun ready!" Like why so dramatic?
I don't feel the need to go on pictures of everyone's child and exaggerate how attractive they are I just don't leave a comment if I don't have anything genuine to say. It seems to be an old or middle aged person thing I don't see people under 40ish do this so much. Why??
