Thank you. How could I forget all that. Probably because every waking second of our miserable lives has been so historic.
MLA flight whatever disappearing (wtf?)
The rising number of credible reports about aliens
Change to perpetually remote work culture
revelation that plastics shrink taints, little penises
Fugazi doxxxes Monicah Klam vlad Obama Jesus Christ
Rise of AI
Funny thing is, these are all public events. Idk about you but personal life at work and elsewhere is riddled with “historic moments” that just don’t seem like they’d have happened 10-20 years ago. Idk if that’s a trick of perception caused by the rise of social media (there’s another one!) or if it’s legit and due to the psychological and multivaried impact exerted by all these public historic moments.
But I’m tired, boss.

Most of the things we've listed above should be considered as part of the biggest issue of all - the emergence of the Information Age. Just like in the Stone, Bronze, Iron, Industrial, Nuclear Ages, in fact every age, the weapon of choice harnesses the latest technological advancement. We are in the midst of a global conflict and instead of exchanging gunfire and ballistics we're dropping information bombs all over the place.
Whereas before we had a handful of news outlets controlling all the facts, now each of us has a wealth of information - some truths, mostly lies - at our finger tips and our enemies are relentlessly bombarding us with everything they've got.
An example to help illustrate my point. During WWII, the only real way to reach an enemy population was to drop leaflets directly on top of them. Now troll farms pulverise them with propaganda on a myriad of online social channels.

ETA: just think about how fast the news travels, who gets to influence and twist it, and what kind of access we all have into the lives of pretty much every other person on earth today.
Our Filmboards interactions are pretty much defined by the quality and quantity of information we hold on each other. Multiple that to the global scale and you can see why the **** is coming at us thick and fast.

Mmhm quality and quantity of info but also how it’s presented and delivered. Thats one of the things I enjoy about this place. You get to repackage the info ammunition and make it more effective against your opponent using language.

But we haven’t and we won’t.
Those are the finishers and instead we will just get the slow drip of info and rumors, a death by 1,000 cuts. And the aliens will suddenly appear after our time in this sub 5/10 simulation’ up.
