Framing art that evokes a reaction as a bad thing is lame.
Agreed…but for different reasons.
While I neither like nor find this painting funny, it's the
Freedom of Art
that must be protected.
Who decides what's
'right'
or
'good'
art?
The terrible destructions (book burnings) and bans of so called
"degenerate art"
during the Nazi era should never happen again!
Then less long ago the destruction of the big Buddhas.
And the Mohammed cartoons even triggered murders by fanatics. -

praise be to our lord and savior Charlie Hebdo
Maybe you exaggerate a bit.
Whoever you are.
Salman Rushdie's
Satanic Verses
were more literary.
He also paid
'high prices'
for his courage.
But even him I wouldn't call a
"savior"
. -

Salman Rushdie is a LEGEND!
but he is unkillable
he will be remembered for his sacrifices and so will those who died for charlie hebdo's freedom of expression
Leastwise Salman Rushdie survived the attacks…until now.
There are many more brave people to mention.
Yah, we'll remember them!
'Heroes don't become old.'

Why would I want to do that?
"Wir trampeln durch's Getreide,
wir trampeln durch die Saat.
Hurra, wir verblöden!
Für uns bezahlt der Staat."
Sorry, in English no more rhyme:
"We trample through the grain,
we trample through the seeds.
Hurray, we go daft!
The state pays for us." -

But a last-minute online protest claimed the 2023 oil-on-lithograph work mocked the Christian religion, with some protesters threatening the museum and its staff – many of whom are volunteers – with violence.
With violence?! Nah, can’t be.

A handful of people complained and the powers that be realized that if they want to be free bow to Islamic blasphemy laws yesterday and tomorrow they'll need to honor Christian ones today. They won't want to be accused of having a double standard.
Well done Muslims. Yet another change in cultural attitude that's taken us backwards.

In some museums Greek statues are dressed because it might hurt the feelings of '
new residents'
