We're a country of individual states and the federal government has seized too much power. States live differently and have their own different cultures, if it were up to leftists they'd use the government to force the entire country to live like the disgusting freaks in CA. The fact that we have states rights means the president overall shouldn't matter much, that was the original intention, but of course Democrats changed all that with their retardation.
