Currently, 2,931 police officers have quit or retired, losing 200 officers every month, made worse by policies like "bail reform" which releases criminals right back onto the street. If police find weapons on the criminals, the charges still get dropped. Activists believe "criminals are not responsible for their actions," police are. Make it make sense.
With elected officials going after the policing of citizens and then the police cannot reply or defend themselves, sounds crazy. A comparison would be with the fire department, if the elected official made comments which would encourage people to start more fires (as they could do so without fearing prosecution), would those within the fire department be prohibited for expressing their frustration at how doing this inhibits their ability to do their job? People seem to enjoy going after tweets and giving them far more gravity than actual actions. Again, make it make sense.
