Why can't people with mental illness just shake it off??

Yeah, it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside when I think of the number one America bubblegum pop princess is dating a football star!
I giggle and feel all giddy like a schoolgirl!
(Not that it takes much to make me feel that way but still….)

They can. They just need to walk it off, touch grass, take a chill pill, get off the internet, or stop abusing drugs.
I used to have a brain tumor, BPD, autism, dyslexia, and mania, but I defided enough was enough and I just quit. If I can do ot, anynody can.- Fugazi

I dunno, I was normal until I suffered a trauma. At that point it was like my fight or flight switch broke and everything causes crippling anxiety. Both good things (too exciting!) and bad things (absolute terror!). Presently my only joy in life is the relief I get after paying bills. That's basically it. It's also nice seeing old friends that I had when I was normal because it reminds me of back when I was clever and interesting.
And this is still not considered "serious" mental illness like schizophrenia or psychosis. Imagine that life.
