It's not like American attitudes are any different. How many boomers out there complain about the kids these days having it too easy? They're never happy for the kids. The oldlings just want the kids to be as miserable as they were.
And then you have people making $18 an hour who would feel inadequate if minimum wage got raised to $15 an hour.

In what way do kids have it for easy? The children of bany boomers are the first generation expected to earn less than their parents generation because they did nothing to make sure they left them a better world. Fucking boomers.
