He proved all pop music is formulaic and safe and never strays too far off the beaten path because we figured out what chords and progressions are pleasing to the ear a long time ago and can even explain why they are. Most people aren't looking to get anything more out of their music listening experience though.

I document what I listen to like Scaruffi and Christgau. I've spent a lot of time listening to anything and everything. If there's a band that I'm unfamiliar with, I'll look into them. This can get me to go through their entire discography. I've heard all of Fall, Beefheart, Zappa, Dylan, Cohen, Waits, Young, Van Morrison, Stones, Beatles, King Crimson, Jandek (most), etc. Music is ****.
