Cartier'GOD & LazyGod - Menace 2 da Ocean
(2023) Southern Hip Hop, G-Funk, Cloud Rap, Gangsta Rap, Memphis Rap
This is pretty awesome. I love the vibes across this project, it’s a less underwater/drowned out bliss style from this duo and I’m all for it. There’s a heavy G-Funk influence on the beats here and the flows are very Bone Thugs.
This for the most part goes over well, with LazyGod and Cartier actually performing really well in this almost “unplugged” vocal style that they do on a majority of songs here. There’s still singing and odd melodies/effects throughout but it’s kept to a minimum, with most of Menace 2 Da Ocean focusing on really chill g-funk synths and throwback flows. There’s even a Cash Money tribute here, with “All On U” echoing some classic B.G. and Juvenile. Not every song is great, sometimes their flows fall flat or the beat is weak, like on the song “Splashin N Da Chevy” with its weak hook and forgettable verses. There’s a few other songs i could also critique on here, but honestly for the most part I just had a lot of fun with this one.
Lazy & Cartier are an unstoppable duo, and almost always bring the best out of each other, and this is a great example of them coming out of their comfort zone and experimenting with some interesting sounds. Splashhhhh

no lol cuz i lived in the city centre of Hamburg, no one's trick r treating in big cities. but when i was older and allowed to go to Halloween parties i went as nurse with a cut throat and bloody nurse dress, or just wore a dress with blood all over it and a cut throat (make up artist like). i was Emily the Strange once, too. one time i was wearing only a pink fluffy full-body dinosaur costume lol… that's the costumes i remember right now
