I'm not Chris, but I can tell you through practical experience that Marmite is very similar and people have gone to war over which one is better. Marmite seems slightly less smooth than Vegemite to me.

I put on more than the average Brit or Australian. I love bitter tasting things like straight espresso and dark beer. Funny, I was the total opposite as a kid. Hated dark chocolate and liked everything super sweet.
