The Florida standards backed by Gov. DeSantis require instructors to teach middle schoolers that “slaves developed skills which, in some instances, could be applied for their personal benefit.” The requirement has come under fire from a spectrum of political voices from Vice President Kamala Harris to Republican Florida Rep. Byron Donalds.
Asked about Donalds’ criticism of the curriculum at a campaign stop in Iowa earlier Thursday, DeSantis questioned the representative’s loyalty to the Florida Republican party.
“So at the end of the day you’ve got to choose,” DeSantis said. “Are you going to side with Kamala Harris and liberal media outlets or are you going to side with the state of Florida?”
DeSantis has doubled down on the requirement in the past week, suggesting that it has been misrepresented by political opponents. Recently, he suggested that the standards would see students educated on enslaved people that transitioned from “being a blacksmith into, into doing things later in life.”

I think I would have made a great slave owner.
I'd print up my own slave money and pay my slaves. Then on their day off they could go to the plantation store and buy some stuff for themselves with their slave dollars to fill their little cabins i'd let them build. It would be a good system because it wouldn't really cost much, and the slaves would be willing to work harder and longer hours once they got a taste of the good life, being able to buy toilet paper and such, things to improve their little cabin life. I'd throw them a big buffet breakfast every morning too, so they could start the day out right and energized. At lunchtime they could all run down to the lake and have a picnic with their slave girlfriends. They can make their own dinner after they get off, I can't provide them everything after all. Maybe I let one or two of the slaves open a restaurant so the slaves could dine there if they get too tired earning toilet paper slave dollars or just want to impress so ho, idk.
When the other slave owners saw the success of my system they'd all emulate it, naturally. Imagine America today if I had been a slave owner and pioneered a new way of life. I doubt there would have been a civil war, America would have become industrialized earlier, we'd have been in space by 1889, and we'd still have little colonies of slaves working their asses off, some of them on the moon, earning their own good life. People would be standing in line to sign up for the slave system so they could get some of those good old America slave dollars to fix up their little cabin and impress the bitches. That's the best version of the God Damned American Dream i've ever heard of.

Hell yeah! I heard this when I was a kid and it's what inspired my slave owning store dreams from a young age. I even told one of my teachers about it and she was quite impressed, thought it was a lovely idea! That's when I started building my time machine so I could go back to slave days and change the future/past/whatever.
