Oh. I see now, you're just not that informed. The documents that Biden had were not illegally removed from their proper location. He legally had them in his possession at his home office while he was VP. When his term ended a very small number were still at his home office because when you're handling thousands of documents, some are bound to slip through the cracks. These documents were discovered and recovered after an investigation that Biden fully complied with.
The documents in Trump's possession were not in possession by accident. He took them as he was leaving the White House after his presidency had ended. After the government realized these documents were missing they asked for them back, which Trump did not initially comply with. Eventually he did give some back, claiming everything was returned. It turns out that wasn't true. The FBI found out that many documents had been moved to a different location seemingly to evade seizure. When they couldn't get Trump to hand them over they raided his offices and recovered all of the missing documents they could find. Still some are reported to be missing.
This is nothing like what Biden did. This is a serious violation that could be criminal. The federal government isn't going to indict a former president unless they have real strong reason to. At first they attempted to resolve this entire matter without any conflict and they gave Trump multiple chances to comply. He didn't comply and appears to have obstructed the investigation. This has nothing to do with politics like the last indictment. This one is real. Trump is in very serious trouble.

You're incorrect. I don't want Trump indicted at all. As an American I don't think it's a good thing for our country to have a former president guilty of a crime and possibly be imprisoned, and as a partisan hack I don't want his chances to win the Republican nomination harmed because he is by far the easiest candidate to beat. He has no shot at beating Biden. The reason I say Trump is in serious trouble is because if you look at the facts of this case, he's in very serious trouble. I wish it weren't true, but it is.

No, he's in serious trouble because there is a strong chance he engaged in obstruction of justice and possibly something worse. The federal government isn't going to indict a former president and leading figure of a political party unless they have good reason to do so. They aren't going to risk tearing this country apart for a political witch hunt.
The reason I asked you at the start about how you would react if Obama behaved in the same way that Trump did with classified documents was to illustrate a point to you about the severity of these charges. If this was Obama you know full well you wouldn't be defending him and you would want the book thrown at him. So even you know how serious these charges are. This is all on Trump.

He didn't do the exact thing every other president has done. Every other president hasn't walked out of the White House with boxes full of classified documents and then resisted returning them. Only Trump has done that.
What Biden did and what Trump did are not comparable. Read again what I wrote earlier.
Biden had a couple dozen classified documents left over at his home office from his time as VP and he returned it all when he found out and fully complied with the investigation.
Trump had hundreds of classified documents and refused to return them when it was discovered he had them, then returned some when lawyers had to get involved. At the same time he also hid some while hiding others and lied to the FBI about it. That is obstruction of justice.
These are not the same thing.
If this was Obama guilty of all of this then you would be ranting amd raving about how corrupt and criminal he is. You know this.
The FBI wasn't trying to target Trump for any political hit job. They gave him many chances to comply, chances that an ordinary citizen wouldn't get. Trump ignored the requests and continued to hold onto classified documents that he was not legally allowed to have.
Do you suggest if someone has classified documents and won't return them and lies to the government about it that it should just be ignored? I would hope not. The government had a duty to retrieve these documents. They were doing their job, which Trump attempted to impede, which is against the law. This also raises questions of what was he trying to hide.
Again, I wish Trump didn't do any of this because I want him to be the Republican nominee since he has zero chance of winning the presidency, but I really think this one could get him. As many scandals as he's had, this is the first time I've ever thought he was in major trouble. I hope I'm wrong.
