Russia.
Russia has already annexed one-fifth of the country and their winter offensive hasn't even begun. That's why the US and NATO allies are scrambling like headless chickens to send more deadly weapons to Ukraine, they know things aren't going so well for the Zelensky regime. -

Russia is threatening to use nukes if NATO gets directly involved in the war and attacks Russia or tries to take back territory that Russia now considers its own (Crimea, Donbas)- and that's Zelensky's only hope (direct NATO intervention) because Ukrainian forces alone could never defeat Russia. They can hold back Russia in certain parts of the country but they could never defeat it. With things not going well for Ukraine, NATO either begins to limit how much support it gives to Ukraine or it plunges headlong into all out war with Russia. Ukraine isn't a NATO member but it's being treated like one.

Russia has been threatening nukes from the very early. Of course no one believes they will actually use them because if they did then that would be the end of Putin and Russia. They are the cries of desperation. What do you mean by Ukraine is being treated like a NATO member? You don't think a country should be defended from an unprovoked and unlawful attack unless they are a member of NATO?

It wasn't unprovoked. Ukraine repeatedly violated the Minsk Agreement and bombed ethnic Russians living in Donbas, killing thousands of innocent people. Zelensky also repeatedly threatened to join NATO, which is something Russia would never allow to happen. And then there was the 2014 coup, the icing on the cake, that saw a democratically elected pro-Russian Ukrainian president (Yanukovych) being ousted in a US-backed operation erroneously called the "Maidan Revolution".
Russia's invasion of Ukraine might be excessive but it's not unprovoked. -

It isn't up to Russia what Ukraine does. Ukraine is a sovereign nation that decides its own fate. If they wanted to join NATO it is because they viewed Russia as a threat, which Russia proved them correct by invading them. They only have more reason to try to join NATO now.

Why do you believe this revolution was not really the will of the people? The USA weren't the ones sending Ukrainians into the streets to protest and overthrow the government. They did that on their own.

The coup in 2014 was backed by the CIA and all the interim government positions were vetted by the USA first. Hardly the “will of the people” lol
The problem is that NATO is an inherently aggressive organization that is designed to antagonize Putin. The West only encouraged him to invade Ukraine (and after all, the USA has set the precedent of invading sovereign nations). -

Even though I am very much against war and would rather see a peaceful solution to this ASAP, I cannot help but feel like to be on Russia's side.
They cannot at all be blamed for coming to the defense of the civilians in the Donbas.
Not.
At.
All.
Anybody who does and is pro Uke for defending themselves is a ****ing hypocrite.
