It was a vote sold as a way to put pressure on Saddam, not a guarantee of war.
Yeah, that's the way they spun it after the fact. The vote gave Bush the green light to invade Iraq. Biden, Clinton, Kerry, et al. were fools then to believe that Bush was going to stop at "putting pressure on Saddam" and not take it any further. And Saddam was never a threat anyway, the WMD claims sounded dubious even back in 2002-2003.

"The U.S. giving weapons to Ukraine is 100 percent the right thing to do."
      Really?
So you agree that giving weapons to Nazis is a good thing.
"He knows what any person with a working brain, common sense, and completely in touch with reality…."
      Biden is all that?
He cannot walk UP stairs without tripping.
Cannot ride a bike without falling over.
Is trying to shake hands with those who are not there.
Shows time and time again that he is a laughing stock of an old fart geezer with dementia.
Got covid not once but twice!
More died from covid with him as POTUS than Trump in the same amount of time.
Inflation and higher gas prices are happening with him there.
And now he is taking us to the brink of nuclear war unlike any previous president.
Still think he has it all together?
"…if Putin and Russia succeed in taking Ukraine, Putin is not going to stop there."
      Bullshit.
Only reason why Putin is in Uke. is because of two reasons.

      1. Uke kept on killing civilians in the Donbas region breaking the Minsk agreement not to.
Russia had to come in and defend them.
Was that wrong of them to do that or do you think that those civilians should have kept on getting killed?
      2. Uke was getting ready to join NATO, which should not have happened.
TL/DR: Uke is not the victims as you would like to think they are.
They are the evil bad guys with Nazis in their ranks while they were murdering civilians with an inexperienced TV star as their corrupt puppet of the US and Europe for their president.
They are reaping what they sowed.

NATO IS an existential threat to Russia, not Ukraine or other Eastern European countries per se. If Ukraine joined NATO there would be NATO military bases on Ukraine's border with Russia. Russia can't allow THAT just like the US would never allow Russia to put military bases on the Canada-US border or the Mexico-US border.

There are already NATO bases on Russia's border. You need to come up with another justification to defend your Russophilia.

Ukraine is on Russia's doorstep, so to speak. Missiles placed on its border with Russia could reach Moscow in minutes.

But Ukraine is much closer to Moscow, Russia's capital.
The NATO members Norway (since 1949), Poland (since 1999), Latvia, Estonia, and Lithuania (all since 2004) all border Russia.
Poland, Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania should've never been brought into NATO. NATO should've never been expanded past Germany's border as a goodwill gesture to the Russians following the collapse of the Soviet Union. By expanding NATO eastward and bringing in former Soviet Bloc countries, NATO destroyed any chance of continued good relations with post-Soviet Russia.

It may be closer, but Russia isn't facing a new threat. It's just an excuse.
It's easy in hindsight to say that NATO shouldn't have invited those countries to join, but at the time, Russia was highly unstable. Putin finally brought stability, but for years the oligarchs were vying for control. Who's to say that another leader might not have tried to restore the Soviet Union earlier than Putin is attempting to right now?
In all honesty, it wouldn't matter who took control. Russia would always have been a threat to the west. How well do you know Russian history? Their geography (situational and resources) dictates that they are always paranoid that they will be invaded. Nothing the west could do, or has done, would ever change their national psyche.
Every geopolitical decision they have ever made has assumed that the powers that surround them are out to conquer them. They've been like that since forever.

At least do me the favor and watch the scene just before the bombs explode starting at 17:30
It is one of the most eerie and realistic scenes I have ever seen filled with dread that depicts what it really might be like.
I can share in your worried feelings where we are going on about our normal day but then there is that bright, unexpected flash that I do not want to see.

Yes, I've seen it. It's an excellent film about nuclear war and what comes afterward. Very realistic and grim. Everyone should see that film.
